The walls are wet and my hands still wrinkly from the long dive here. Yet I can"t wait to finally abseil down the slippery cave. I"ve heard how incredible underwater caves are supposed to be, but seeing one in reality is a totally different thing. The moist rock wall is reflecting the flashlight and it almost looks like glitter!
After a short break to admire this beauty, I decide to start my journey down the 20-meter-deep hole. First, I wrap a rope around one of the rocks spiking out and then around my waist. Everything goes smoothly. My hands have dried a little during my short rest, which means the grip is a little stronger now. I go down little by little and the ground becomes more visible with every meter.
Suddenly, I can feel a slight breeze, which is rather weird considering me being in an underwater cave with no exit above, but I don’t have much time to overthink that because seconds later I cut myself on a sharp piece of rock. It hurts and scares me so much that I quickly back off from the wall, and now I’m just hanging on the rope. But apparently, the sudden movement has lead for the rock which was attached on the rope to break off and fall down the pit taking me with it.
